UEFA president Michel Platini has come out in defence of his countryman Thierry Henry at the 2010 World Cup draw. Henry has been slammed from all corners following his clear handball against Ireland which led to their elimination.
Platini, being interviewed by FP, said "If Henry is a crook, all players are – and so was I"
He went on to say that the traditional method of refereeing is dead and what kill it was TV. Platini stated that 20 years ago only Henry and the goalkeeper would have known about that handball, but now TV had made it easy to spot for millions.
Despite attempting to take the focus away from the Barcelona striker, there is still pressure for Henry to face sanction for a clear violation of the rules.
