According to Spanish paper Marca, Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has claimed his departure from Real Madrid in the summer has left a bad taste in his mouth. The 25-year-old was victim to the latest galacticos revival, suddenly finding himself surplus to requirements with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Xabi Alonso arriving at the Bernabeu.
“What Xabi Alonso is doing [for Real] I also could have done myself, but I do not look with hate at Real Madrid,” Sneijder said about being forced to play elsewhere. He also revealed how he initially wasn’t very excited about joining the four-time consecutive Serie A champions, stating, “The Serie A level seemed lower [than the Spanish League] and I thought I would have to play in half empty stadiums. But I’ve changed my mind and I feel very good here.”
Sneijder has just returned to full fitness for Jose Mourinho’s side, and has been quick to make his presence felt, scoring the only goal to dump Livorno out of the Italian Cup. He has now scored four goals for his new club, with all of them interestingly, proving to be match-winners.
