Despite recent reports claiming Atletico Madrid striker Sinama-Pongolle, has agreed a deal with Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, L’Equipe has claimed the unsettled player may yet opt to move to a Ligue 1 side if the opportunity arises. The 25-year-old is understood to have been given a few days to reflect and make a final decision.
The Frenchman is keen to gain more first-team football to bolster his chances of being included in the French World Cup squad, and a move back to his homeland will ensure he is under the watchful eye of France manager Raymond Domenech on a regular basis.
Ligue 1 side Rennes, are reportedly interested in the former Liverpool player, seeing him as a replacement to Jimmy Briand, who is likely to leave the club in January.
