Marouane Chamakh, the Bordeaux striker, looks set to disappoint a number of interested parties, chief amongst them Arsenal, by refusing to move from the Ligue 1 club in the winter transfer window.
Chamakh, who sees his contract expire at the end of the season, told France Football that he hopes "to ensure the season [for Bordeaux] finishes in style [by] retaining our championship and achieving something in the Champions League."
The 25-year-old striker has been a long time target for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger who had two bids for the player turned down in the summer. Rumours have been rife that Wenger will once again attempt to take Chamakh to England from Ligue 1 in January, and the Moroccan’s latest comments will surely disappoint the French coach.
Arsenal are not the only side known to be interested in Chamakh and it is likely when his contract expires in the summer that the forward will have his pick of a number of European giants.
