Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has cast doubt on his ability to buy Craig Bellamy from Manchester City, despite admitting a liking for the Welsh striker, according to a report in the Independent.

"I like the player [Bellamy] but I’ve not done anything," admitted the Frenchman, "I don’t think we can buy players from City."

Whilst the Arsenal boss is realistic enough to know that City do not have to sell to buy Wenger could yet get his man. It would however first seem that Bellamy would have to push for an exit from the City of Manchester Stadium, and new boss Roberto Mancini would also need to be a willing participant in any deal.

The former Liverpool forward would be available to help Arsenal in the Champions League knockout rounds should he move to the Emirates and this is undoubtedly one of the reasons Wenger would like to bring the fiery striker to London.
