Benfica have snapped up two young Brazilians in a move that is sure to heighten speculation that they have accepted the loss of Angel Di Maria at some point – either in the summer or winter transfer window.
The Portuguese giants have brought in Alan Kardec from Vasco Da Gama and Airton from Flamengo.
Kardec, aged 20, is a highly rated striker and thought capable of making the breakthrough on the world stage. Countryman Airton, a 19-year-old midfielder, picked up the Brazilian title with Flamengo in this year’s Serie A. He too is considered a hot prospect for the future.
Kardec has inked a deal until 2015 whilst Airton will stay in Portugal until 2013. No details of the fee paid for both players has been released.
