Manchester United are targetting FC Porto’s Bruno Alves and Everton’s Jack Rodwell should they sell Nemanja Vidic to Real Madrid, reports British paper The Times.

Real Madrid’s interest in Vidic became public knowledge yesterday but the English club are thought to have been aware of the Spaniard’s desire to sign the Serbian centre-back for some time. This has allowed Sir Alex Ferguson to weigh up who he would move for as a potential replacement and also set the amount expected for Vidic.

If the Premier League club can bag a fee of €30M for their defender then moves for Rodwell and Alves are expected. Alves himself has been courted by Real Madrid in recent months but it is likely if Vidic makes the move to the Bernabeu then this interest would cool, leaving Man Utd to snap up the 28-year-old.

Everton meanwhile will be determined to extract top dollar for Rodwell should they lose the young talent.
