Portsmouth have seen their payments to players and staff delayed for the third time this season according to the BBC. Wages for December should have been paid on the 31st, however, it is thought these will not now be made until the 5th January.
Despite these cash flow issues, new manager Avram Grant recently stated he hoped to have some funds available in the winter transfer window. "I hope to have some funds in January," said Grant, "even if it’s a difficult situation we can still stay up."
The Premier League club though are still working under a transfer embargo. This relates to debts owed by the club over the signings of Lassana Diarra (to Arsenal) and Glen Johnson (to Chelsea).
Portsmouth are also set to lose a raft of stars to the African Cup of Nations which starts on the 10th January.
