Rafael Benitez is reportedly trying to offload Ukrainian striker Andriy Voronin to free up space at the club. The Liverpool boss is believed to be close to completing a loan deal for Atletico Madrid’s Maxi Rodriguez, but is also keen to bring Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy to Anfield. To bag both however it is likely the club’s wage bill will need to be reduced.
Voronin enjoys a good reputation within the Bundesliga after productive spells with Bayer Leverkusen and Hertha Berlin. It could be though that his future lies further east.
The Ukrainian is said to be interesting three Russian clubs, with CSKA Moscow, Dynamo Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg all keeping an eye on developments at Anfield. Benitez is thought to be keen to get as much as £1.5M for Voronin.
