Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is reportedly interested in sealing a move for Patrick Vieira from former club Internazionale. The Italian coach believes that Vieira’s experience in English football, combined with his abilities as a leader, will help City to cement a spot in the top four.

Reports from Italy suggest that Vieira would initially move to the City of Manchester Stadium on loan until the end of the season. It is an arrangement that would suit the Frenchman as he is desperate for regular first-team football in order to push his way back into the France squad for the World Cup in South Africa. Overlooked for the most recent of Raymond Domenech’s squads, Vieira must play and soon.

The 33-year-old was linked with a return to the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, in the summer transfer window. A move to Manchester City appears more likely than those supposed deals proved to be.
