Bordeaux’s highly-coveted striker Marouane Chamakh has been the subject of a lot of transfer speculation with Arsenal being tipped to acquire the player in the January transfer window to cope with the loss of Robin van Persie to a long-term injury. The Moroccan international has since stated his desire to remain with his club until at least the end of the current campaign.
“Even though Arsenal are pressurising me to join them this month, I will take my time and I am going to finish my season with Bordeaux,” the 25-year-old said to The People, adding, "There is also interest from Sevilla and Inter Milan."
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger however, disputes such claims, stating he had tried to sign the striker in the summer, but has since revoked all contact. Speaking to Arsenal’s official website he said, "He is completely free at the end of the year and I have not been in touch with his agent at all. It came up in June and it’s true I wanted to take him but since we have had no contact at all.”
