With Everton’s on-loan striker from Manchester City, Jo, going AWOL during the Christmas period, manager David Moyes has been eager to replace the Brazilian misfit. The 22-year-old impressed in his first loan spell in the 2008/09 season, but his second stint has proved to be troublesome, with his latest actions leaving him suspended by his club.

Portsmouth’s Frederic Piquionne, on loan from French side Lyon, has caught the eye of Moyes, and is seen to be the primary target to replace Jo, reported the Daily Mail. The 31-year-old has impressed after scoring goals against English heavyweights Chelsea and Liverpool in the December period.

The French striker is said to be attracting interest from Blackburn, Liverpool and Aston Villa as well.
