The Guardian reports Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, is eyeing former player Patrick Viera as a possible January recruit. The two enjoyed a good relationship at Inter Milan, winning two Serie A titles together after the Frenchman joined from Juventus in 2006.

It is believed the 33-year-old former Arsenal captain is still hopeful on being involved in the 2010 France World Cup squad, and is eyeing regular football in order to boost his chances. Viera has found playing time hard to come by under Jose Mourinho, and as he is nearing the twilight of his career, is desperate to get as many opportunities on the pitch as possible.

The midfielder was part of France’s 1998 World Cup winning squad, and the 2000 European Championship winning team. He was also part of the Les Bleus squad that were runner-ups to Italy in the last World Cup in Germany.
