Coveted winger Franck Ribery looks even more certain to be playing elsewhere in the near future after Bayern Munich director of sport, Christian Nerlinger, expressed the club’s desire to reduce wages. This comes only days after the 26-year-old’s agent claimed his client will be looking for a new team if his contract extension cannot be agreed upon before the season ends.
"We are going to try to reduce the wages," Nerlinger said in The Guardian. "The wages have gone through the roof and, therefore, we have got to get our message through to the players that a new contract does not necessarily mean a pay rise."
With Ribery being one of the most expensive players on the Bayern squad, his presence at the club next year is all but certain to be missing. The real question now is, where will the wing wizard end up next? With Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, among many others, highly interested in his services, the former Marseille man will have the unique opportunity of having the power to choose among world football’s biggest clubs.
