Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has immediately refuted claims he is on the verge of leaving the club, after reports surfaced that he and manager Sir Alex Ferguson are experiencing a rift.

Everybody in the club knows that I have a marvellous understanding with my coach Ferguson,” Vidic told Sportski zurnal. “Ferguson said that he didn’t talk with the club doctor but he didn’t say that he doesn’t believe in my injuries and that we are in a fight. I am not unhappy at Old Trafford. I am just injured. I hope that I will be able to play as soon as possible.”

Speculation was rife Vidic could be on his way to Real Madrid after the 28-year-old was axed from the United line-up right before the start of the FA Cup tie against Leeds. It has since been revealed the Serbian is suffering from a nerve injury in his leg, and will be expected to return when Burnley visit Old Trafford in ten days.
