Birmingham are continuing to display their lofty ambitions for the future under new owner Carson Yeung by considering a £9M bid for Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones, reports The Guardian. The Blues have already wrapped up the signing of Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel, and are waiting on a response from Liverpool after they submitted a bid for Ryan Babel.

Kenwyne Jones has found appearances hard to come by this season, with Darren Bent’s scintillating form relegating him to a place on the bench. The Trinidad and Tobago star was once dubbed the “best forward in the Premier League” by former manager Roy Keane, but has mostly disappointed so far this campaign.

With Yeung revealing that there is £40M available to reinforce the Birmingham squad, manager Alex McLeish will surely have a busy January period selecting the proper acquisitions for his already impressively performing squad.
