Only hours after reports surfaced regarding Tom Hicks Jr’s foul-mouthed tirade towards a Liverpool fan in an e-mail , the club have announced that the director, son of co-owner Tom Hicks Sr., has resigned from his position.

A statement on the club’s official website said, “Liverpool Football Club today announce that Thomas Hicks Jr has resigned as a director of both the club and its parent company Kop Holdings.” The statement went on to reveal, “Three new directors have been elected to the boards of both companies. These are Philip Nash, LFC Chief Financial Officer; Ian Ayre, LFC Commercial Director; and Casey Coffman, Executive Vice President of Hicks Holdings.

Reds fans have been quick to voice their disgust at the manner in which Hicks Jr. had replied to Stephen Horner, the concerned fan, and have expressed their desire for the owners to put the club up for sale. Liverpool have responded swiftly to the protests, but it remains to be seen if the fans will be satisfied by the mere resignation of the potty mouth that is Hicks Jr.

Calciomercato.com believes Russia manager Guus Hiddink is the favourite to take over for the under-fire Ferrara.
