Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin has moved to Russian side Dyanmo Moscow after failing to impress in the Premier League. The Ukrainian, who spent the entirety of last season on loan to German side Hertha Berlin, has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Rafael Benitez, and has opted to move to a club where he is valued.

Dynamo Moscow’s sporting director, Konstantin Sarsania stated on the club’s official website, "The transfer of Andriy Voronin can be considered accomplished. The clubs reached an agreement and the player signed a contract for three years. We are delighted that such a strong player has joined Dynamo and we hope he can help solve the team’s problems."

Voronin, who states he had options to move to Germany and other teams in Russia, explained his reason for joining Dynamo, who finished eighth in the recently concluded Russian League: "Our views came together. Dynamo have set high goals. I’m interested. I believe the Russian league is of a very good level."
