Inter Milan misfit Alessandro Mancini looks set to join Ligue 1 side Marseille in midweek, after negotiations were put on hold during the weekend. The 29-year-old Brazilian has found appearances hard to come by at the Italian club since his transfer from Roma in 2008 and is desperate to boost his World Cup chances by playing regular football.

We decided by common agreement to suspend our routes this weekend to play our respective games. He is a player whose contract takes time to review. It is a little longer than expected, but by Wednesday we should have everything fixed,” Marseille’s sporting director, Jose Anigo said on France Football.

Although the versatile midfielder has managed to win the Scudetto and Italian Super Cup with Jose Mourinho’s side since his transfer, he has only managed 26 appearances for the Nerazzurri, something he wishes to change by joining Didier Deschamps’ Marseille.
