David Sullivan, who sold his ownership of Birmingham to Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung in October, has since been interested in finding another club to acquire. With his search for a suitable organization, he has had the chance to scrutinise the financial situation of 20 clubs, a process that has left him shocked.
"The state of the finance of football is frightening, that’s all I can say," Sullivan said to BBC Radio 5 live. "Many clubs have pre-sold their Premier League income, TV money and have borrowed against season-ticket money. I think there’s a possibility one (Premier League) club could go and I think probably odds on one club will go.”
Sullivan has been heavily linked with a possible takeover of West Ham United, something that the 60-year-old is unable to comment on due to a confidentiality agreement.
