Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has revealed he has no intention of selling striker Kenwyne Jones, who has been the subject of a lot of interest from fellow Premier League club Birmingham. The former Wigan manager believes that although the former Southampton player has proven to be inconsistent, there is massive potential that only needs to be maximised.

Bruce expressed his scepticism at a possible transfer for the forward going through, saying in The Guardian, "We all know in football that everybody’s got their price, whether you’re Steven Gerrard or Cristiano Ronaldo, but the one thing I want to do here is try and build a squad. If something out there blows our brains … but with no disrespect to Stoke or Birmingham, can they afford him? I very much doubt it. It’s not just the transfer fee but wages, all the rest of it. I just can’t see it."

The Trinidad and Tobago native was signed by Roy Keane in 2007, and was once hailed by Chelsea skipper John Terry, as “the most difficult” Premier League forward to mark. Jones’ inconsistency has proven to be a problem however, and with Darren Bent in scintillating form this season, has found appearances quite difficult to come by with only ten so far in this campaign.
