Olympique Lyon have confirmed the €8M capture of Dinamo Zagreb youngster Dejan Lovren to a four-and-a-half-year contract. The 20-year-old defender has been brought in to bolster a backline that has been ravaged with injuries throughout the season.

Lovren, who has been capped two times by the senior Croation side, has a lot of footballing experience at a very young age. He debuted for the Dinamo first-team in 2006 as a 17-year-old and has also enjoyed a loan spell to fellow Croatian side Inter Zapresic.

Lyon welcome the much needed addition to the defence, that has been shaky so far this season. The French giants currently sit in the unfamiliar position of sixth in the league, having conceded 26 goals already, the most any side has allowed in the top ten of Ligue 1.
