Brian Laws’ first order of business following his appointment as Burnley manager is to convince striker David Nugent to not follow Owen Coyle to Bolton and remain at Turf Moor. The 24-year-old, who is on loan from Portsmouth, is said to be the subject of interest from the new Bolton boss.
"David is a terrific player who I once tried to nick from Bury when I was at Scunthorpe," Laws told the club’s official website. "But I’ve watched his career and now he’s an established striker, a good one, and we want to keep him here."
Laws officially took charge on Wednesday, and has been joined by his Sheffield Wednesday assistant Ruus Wilcox. Graham Alexander, Burnley’s captain, has also been included in the backroom staff, adopting a player-coach role.
