Manchester United have received some pleasant news on the injury front for a change, with word that goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar and trusted centre-back Rio Ferdinand are not far from returns. The Dutch shot-stopper, who has just returned from compassionate leave to care for his wife, is showing particularly positive signs and is being considered for the match against Burnley on Saturday.
"Edwin has come back to training and has done very well," Sir Alex Ferguson said to the British press. "He has been out for a few weeks and it is great to see him back. He will give us so much experience when he eventually does come back, which is important to us. It depends how Edwin feels but he has been training very well."
To add more music to the United faithful, Dimitar Berbatov has claimed he has been free of the knee niggles that has been bothering him, and has opted to not go through with the exploratory surgery that was initially recommended. Long-term absentee Owen Hargreaves has also been reported to be training with the team again.
