France forward Thierry Henry, who was the centre of the infamous handball debacle against the Republic of Ireland in the recent World Cup qualifying playoffs, is set to face Fifa’s disciplinary committee today.

The Arsenal legend, who has been labelled guilty of “blatant unfair playing" by Fifa president Sepp Blatter, caused international uproar with his handballs, resulting in Ireland even stating they had been “cheated” out of a spot in the World Cup.

Henry, who apologised for his actions after the match and subsequently pondered international retirement, is unlikely to be given a match ban during the World Cup in June, but may face the prospect of paying a fine or receiving an official warning.
