Inter Milan’s Alessandro Mancini has thrown away the opportunity to improve his chances of securing a place in the Brazil World Cup squad, by failing to meet Olympique Marseille’s Sunday deadline to confirm his intention of joining the French club on loan until the end of the season.
With the deal bizarrely failing to materialise, according to Le Parisien, OM are now eyeing former Liverpool disappointment and present Galatasaray star Harry Kewell as a replacement to the elusive Mancini. The 31-year-old Australian joined the Turkish giants in 2008 and has enjoyed a successful return to the form that made him a cult hero at Leeds United.
Kewell is at the end of his contract at Galatasaray, where he has scored a remarkable 27 goals in 64 appearances playing primarily as a midfielder. Despite supporters voicing their desire for the player to stay, it is believed he is now interested in moving closer to his family, who live in London.
