According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Racing Santander’s budding star Sergio Canales. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder burst onto the scene after a recent impressive two-goal performance over Sevilla. Such was the impression he left in the match, that many of world football’s biggest clubs are believed to be observing the youngster.
Although Real Madrid are already aggressively trying to persuade the Spanish overnight celebrity to the Bernabeu, Canales is believed to be keen to remain at his current club, saying, “Right now my preference is for Racing. “They are the ones who have given me the confidence to play and make my debut at 18-years-old. Without ruling out anything, in the situation that I am in, I’m happy here”
The player’s father, Angel Canales, believes a move to a giant club like Real, could also hamper his son’s development: “It is clear that Sergio must continue to play and at a big team that can be difficult.”
