Spanish paper Marca reports Mr. Liverpool, Steven Gerrard himself, could be on his way out of Anfield should his club’s disappointing season continue in the same manner. Real Madrid are reportedly tracking the England international’s situation, and are prepared to tempt the 29-year-old to the Spanish capital should improvement carry on eluding the Merseyside club.

Gerrard, who is expected to remain injured for at least another week, has been left a frustrated figure at Liverpool so far this campaign. Despite already bagging 16 goals, four less than his total of the entirety of last season, the club have been largely disappointing, and are only realistically battling for one trophy – the Europa League.

Should the Reds fail to find silverware or qualification to the Champions League at the end of the season, Liverpool may have to face the very realistic possibility that their talismanic captain will depart for greener pastures.
