With Ruud van Nistelrooy’s contract with Real Madrid coming to an end, a decision over which club he will be playing for is set to be revealed in the next few days. The aging 33-year-old has stated his desire to play in his last World Cup this June, and is searching for a club that will allow him regular first-team football.

According to Catalan daily Sport, three clubs are chasing the Dutchman, namely, Tottenham, Stoke and Galatasaray. Van Nistelrooy however, has stated his intention to return to the Premier League, leaving Frank Rijkaard’s Turkish side an unlikely destination.

Although Tottenham already boast of a potent strike-force with the likes of Peter Crouch, Jermaine Defoe, and Robbie Keane, the London club seems the more likely to be able to match the former Manchester United’s ambition and hefty wages. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has already expressed his desire to bring the prolific striker to the club should the opportunity arise, saying “He’s a fantastic striker. If available, he would definitely be of interest.”
