Frederic Piquionne is interesting West Ham United, according to reports from L’Equipe. The Portsmouth striker is believed to be open to a move in the winter transfer window and would be keen to stay in England. Piquionne is currently on loan with Portsmouth until the end of the season, and though the south coast club have an option to buy the striker for €4.5M, it is thought their financial troubles make this unlikely.

The 31-year-old striker is under contract with Lyon until 2012, and his performances have attracted the attention of West Ham. It is also reported that Aston Villa, Everton and Liverpool have been informed that Piquionne would welcome a stay in the Premier League.

One problem in any move is that Portsmouth’s boss Avram Grant is known to oppose the departure of the Frenchman, believing him to have a part to play in the club’s battle against relegation.
