As expected, Hamburg have announced the official signing of Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Dutch striker has penned a deal with the Bundesliga club until 2011 as he seeks regular first-team football in the run up to the World Cup.
Van Nistelrooy spoke of his delight at the move saying: "I am really very happy that everything has been agreed. And I am looking forward to Monday when I will travel to Hamburg."
The Dutch striker, exiting Real Madrid, also spoke of Hamburg’s "big ambitions" and said that they matched his. The Bundesliga club will be looking for van Nistelrooy to shoot them up toward challenging for the title. They currently sit in 5th, just five points off top spot.
