33-year-old Patrick Vieira has expressed his unwavering belief in his own ability by stating he has no doubt he will be part of the France World Cup squad in June. Despite not having played for his new club, Manchester City, since his recent transfer from Inter Milan, the Frenchman is positive he will feature in the prestigious tournament.
“As I am an optimistic person I’m going to say that I have 100 per cent chance," Vieira said in the Premier League’s official website. “In my head I don’t see myself missing the World Cup. What I know is that I have to play, simple as that.”
Vieira, who is currently recovering from a niggling calf injury, is aware the battle for places in the Man City squad will be tough, but he believes there will be plenty of opportunities to show he still possesses the quality that he had as captain of Arsenal.
