Manchester United are going into the Carling Cup semi-final against city rivals Manchester City with a rare, close to fully fit squad. The Premier League champions have been ravaged by injuries throughout the campaign, particularly in defence, where Patrice Evra has been the only regular first-team defender that hasn’t faced a spell on the sidelines.

"There are no new injuries," Ferguson said to United’s official website. "Everyone came through from Saturday. I have a big, strong squad. It’s going to be a fantastic game, I know that. Maybe even better than last week’s. We’re ready for it and we hope that our experience helps."

Rio Ferdinand, who returned for his first game at the weekend after a long spell out, has provided a required security to the Red Devils’ back four. His involvement in the looming Manchester derby in midweek however, is in question, as Ferguson may opt to rest him for the crucial trip to The Emirates at the weekend.
