Disgruntled Manchester City star Robinho has fuelled rumours he is set to rejoin Brazilian outfit Santos before the transfer window closes, claiming the deal is almost certain to go through in the next few days. Despite Roberto Mancini’s public plea to keep the player, the former Real Madrid regular remains intent to leave Eastlands.

Speaking to Brazilian television network Globo, Robinho said, "It’s all on the right track. It’s 90% certain to happen.” Although the mercurial attacker holds the British transfer record of £32.4M for his deadline transfer from Los Blancos in 2008, he has been largely disappointing this season, and has found himself on the bench more than to his liking.

With the World Cup looming, Robinho is desperate to cement his place in the Brazil squad by playing more regularly and sees Santos as the perfect venue to rekindle his form.
