The Guardian believes Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish is intent on bringing disgruntled Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko to St. Andrews. With much cash to spend in the January transfer window, the 51-year-old Scot is desperate to land a top-class striker before the deadline at the end of the month.
"I am trying my best,"said McLeish on his desire to bolster the squad. "I have asked the board for one or two players and I’m waiting on the go-ahead. I’ve told them who I want and it’s up to them now. I’m not going to say any names but we’ve certainly targeted one or two pretty decent centre-forwards. I would hope that they would trust me with my judgment."
Birmingham have already acquired Michel and Craig Gardner in the transfer window, and should owner Carson Yeung approve, more arrivals are on the horizon at the big-spending club.
