With Juventus’ current season in the state of freefall having lost six of their last nine games, current manager Ciro Ferrara is widely believed to be on his way out. At the top of the Italian giants’ list to replace the unsuccessful gamble on the 42-year-old Italian, is Liverpool’s under-fire boss Rafael Benitez.
"I prefer to talk about the game," Benitez said following another disappointing performance, this time drawing 0-0 with struggling Wolves. "Is the speculation a distraction? I was really focused today on trying to do the right things and to try and win this game. Is being linked with Juventus flattering? I prefer to concentrate on the game."
Should Juventus lose in Thursday’s Italian Cup quarter-final against Inter Milan, Ciro Ferrara is understood to be certain to be axed. His departure could possibly add further turmoil to Liverpool’s season should Benitez decide to follow Jose Mourinho in making the switch to the Serie A.
