According to BBC Sport, West Ham have agreed terms with Blackburn over the signing of misfit Benni McCarthy. The South African, who has recently been branded “selfish” by Sam Allardyce for not showing up to training, has been frustrated with his limited involvement at Ewood Park, particularly during a season leading up to a World Cup.

Rumours were rife on Monday that the disgruntled forward was heading to West Ham and such speculation was confirmed by Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, who was also interested in acquiring the services of the dynamic player.

"I spoke to his agent, he said he was going to West Ham, so I left it with the agent," said Redknapp. "I would take him on a loan. He would be a good loan signing playing in different systems. He’s a good footballer and an interesting player on a loan but I think he’s gone to West Ham."
