Despite winning an intense east Midlands affair, Derby County manager Nigel Clough won’t be getting carried away in the celebratios, especially since he will likely face a Football Association investigation after he was accused of striking Nottingham manager Billy Davies in the back of the leg during a team scuffle.

"He tried to claim it was an accident but he knows, as well as I know, that it was no accident,” Davies said in The Guardian regarding Clough’s alleged knee strike to his leg. “He was trying to be clever and he did exactly what he was trying to do, but to do it behind my back was a bit cowardly and that was my disappointment

Aside from the likely fines that both teams will receive, Clough will be handed a particular blow should he be found guilty, as his reputation as one of the land’s more courteous and well-mannered individuals will be severely tarnished.
