Stoke manager Tony Pulis, despite signing goalkeeper Asmir Begovic from cash-strapped Portsmouth, has expressed his displeasure at the distractions caused by the January transfer window. Over the years, the 52-year-old is not the only one questioning the necessity of such an interruption in the middle of a fast-paced season.
"It’s a circus, it really should be addressed and I’m not happy at all,” Pulis said to BBC Sport. "We’re playing on a day when it’s all going off, so you’re trying to get things done and you’ve still got to concentrate on a game. If we can change it, brilliant, I think most of the managers would change it.”
Having repeatedly failed to wrangle 39-year-old David James away from Portsmouth, Stoke have eventually gone for potential over experience with the capture of the promising Begovic.
