Manchester United veteran Wes Brown has expressed his delight at having Wayne Rooney as his team-mate. The defender, who has enjoyed an extended run in the side this season with Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic being forced to the sidelines for various reasons throughout the campaign, claims the striker’s ability gives the Red Devils a extra sense of confidence.

"Wayne is playing fantastically well at the moment,” says Wes Brown to the club’s official website. “He is a pleasure to watch. Not just for the fans but for the other players around him. It gives you so much of a boost knowing he can always make something happen. It definitely helps when you are playing in a game.”

Rooney has been in remarkable form this season, scoring 23 goals already, with still plenty of opportunities to add to his tally should United do well in the Champions League.
