After losing in successive weeks to Manchester United and Chelsea, Arsenal have put their title push back on track by edging Liverpool 1-0 at The Emirates. The Gunners are now sitting third in the Premier League standings, just six points behind leaders Chelsea, and back in the thick of the title race only a few days after being written off by pundits.
“Let’s be consistent and try to win our next game. I believe we will fight until the last second of the season and we did that tonight,” Arsene Wenger said of side’s intentions for the season to the club’s official website. “That’s what we want to continue to do. We believe we have a chance and you could see again that Chelsea lost tonight, Man Utd dropped points, so it is open for everybody. Everybody can drop points everywhere.”
Arsenal have managed just three points out of a possible nine out of their quick succession of matches against the giants of English football. Although Wenger will clearly be disappointed, he will be welcoming the next few weeks, as he faces a run of matches that his side should be well capable of winning. With United and Chelsea proving capable of dropping points, the Premier League race is still wide open.
Spurs have drawn four of their last seven games, throwing away an opportunity to solidify their Champions League qualification hopes. Their quest to break into the top four continues when they visit Wolverhampton tonight.
