Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has explained his rotation policy after fans expressed their desire to have players such as Shaun Wright-Phillips, Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha more involved in the squad. The Italian tactician has won eight of his 11 matches in charge of The Citizens, and has steered the side to a formidable position to qualify for the Champions League next season.

We have 21 or 22 players when they are all fit. This is better for us, but they can’t play every game. Sometimes they need to recover, and they cannot always do that in two or three training sessions," Mancini said to the club’s official website "Yes, I heard the fans singing Shaun’s name, and I am happy for him. He is a good player, but it is important that he keeps improving – not only Shaun but all the players, the whole team.”

Man City next play Stoke in successive matches as they clash in the FA Cup and the league in the span of a few days.
