Fourth placed Liverpool face Manchester City, who are level on points with two games in hand, at the weekend in a tie that many believe will decide who will triumph in the race for the final Champions League spot. Rafael Benitez however, despite acknowledging the importance of winning the match, doesn’t agree that the winner will be assured their place in the Premier League’s elite.
"City have two games in hand, and that’s important – but they have to win them. We just need to concentrate on the next game, which is against them and will be a massive game,” Benitez said to his club’s official website. “Still I have the same idea – it will be a long race and we have to keep going. It’s a very important game but even if we win we’ll have to keep winning games."
Benitez will no doubt be worried about the fitness of his players for the highly anticipated clash at Eastlands on Saturday, with his squad on Europa League duty just two days before.
