Real Madrid new-boy Karim Benzema, who just has recently fully recovered from an injury, claims he is excited to return to his homeland to play boyhood club Lyon, where he has plenty of family and friends. The 22-year-old striker left the French giants in the summer to join Los Blancos, where he has had stop-start run of games so far.
“I hope I play well in Lyon and I think I’ll have a good match. It is a historic moment. I will be among my friends and my former team-mates, but the main thing is the game. It is a pleasure to return to Lyon,” Benzema said to his club’s official website.
The young forward has scored just eight goals in 24 appearances for Real so far, a distant figure from his goal scoring ratio as a prolific Lyon player.
