Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is not taking largely unknown Europa League opponents Unirea Urziceni lightly, admitting that he has asked for advice from Sevilla manager Manolo Jimenez on how to handle the Romanian champions. The La Liga outfit faced Unirea twice in the Champions League group stages, winning at home, but losing in the return fixture.
“I was talking to some people at Seville, the manager. He was telling me some things about the team. The message is the same – they are well organised and have players with experience,” Benitez said in his club’s official website. “It’s important for everyone to understand that if you have an opportunity to win silverware, you have to be ready. It’s a chance we have."
Liverpool start their quest for Europa League glory when they face Unirea on Thursday night.
