Ahead of Manchester United’s crucial visit to the San Siro in tonight’s Champions League last 16 match, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has heaped praise on prolific striker Wayne Rooney. The 24-year-old has been in remarkable form this season, clearly relishing the prominent role he has been given following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid.
"He has been fantastic this season and, without doubt, his form this season has brought him to the high point of his career,” Ferguson said in the club’s official website. “World-class is a misused term, but with Rooney, you have to say he is getting to the point where he is now one of the best players in the world."
Rooney has fired home 23 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions, matching his highest ever scoring tally with still plenty of games left to play.
