Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that influential winger Aaron Lennon will not need surgery on a nagging groin problem that has forced the 22-year-old to remain on the sidelines since the end of December.
Lennon was in sparkling form before being struck by injury, and was looking a certainty in the England set up. Having been out for more than a month however, it remains to be seen if the quick attacker will rediscover to his best upon his return – which, according to his manager, could be at the weekend. “He is happier every day so hopefully it could be next weekend. He won’t need an operation,” Redknapp said in the Premier League’s official website.
The crafty winger’s return will be a welcome sight for the Spurs’ faithful, as his ability to beat defenders and find team-mates could be what’s needed to get Tottenham back into the thick of the race for fourth place. Lennon has made an impressive 11 assists already this season, in only 20 appearances so far.
