Manager Roy Hodgson was full of praise of his side, after Fulham managed a 2-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League. The impressive Bobby Zamora fired home the winner with a remarkable 25-yard rocket, ensuring that the English outfit have the advantage when the second leg is played on the 25th of February in Ukraine.
"We’ve done it and are very proud of it. This was a very good victory – probably our best in Europe,” Hodgson said after the match. “If someone had said to me during my first season here when we were battling to stay in the Premier League that we’d beat Shakhtar in a couple of years, I’d have thought they were taking the mickey.”
Fulham are enjoying a remarkable campaign so far, currently tenth in the league, through to the FA Cup quarter-finals, and looking good to progress further in Europe.
