Fulham captain Danny Murphy believes in form striker Bobby Zamora should be in contention for a place in England’s World Cup squad if he continues his run of impressive performances. The former West Ham forward scored the match-winner in last night’s Europa League win over Shakhtar Donetsk with a stunning 25-yard goal.
“You can see his confidence is sky-high,” Murphy said to ITV4. “He has got better each month with his goalscoring, confidence and all-round game. If he carries on the way he is, he’s got to have a shout at the England squad."
Zamora has managed 14 goals this season, more than he’s ever amassed for a Premier League club. With Fulham continuing to progress in the FA Cup and in the Europa League, the 29-year-old will have plenty of opportunities to break the 20-goal mark in this campaign.
