Arsenal returned from their midweek visit to Porto feeling aggrieved after a dubiously taken quick free-kick ensured they went into the second leg with a 2-1 disadvantage. Arsene Wenger is clearly still incensed about the manner in which his side were beaten, explaining to the club’s website just how many technical errors the referee had made in the controversial moment.
“First he did not give the free-kick at the point where it happened. Then he did not stand in the right position. Then he did not put the players at the proper distance. Then he should not have given a quick free-kick play once he is in the middle of the action. Also he didn’t raise his arm until it was too late. In that particular incident that is five technical mistakes in the same moment of the game,” Wenger explained.
Arsenal meanwhile will have to switch their focus back to domestic matters, as they host Sunderland on Saturday, where a win would keep their title dreams alive.
